Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to examine the brain?s organization of structure (how the brain looks) and function (how areas of the brain interact with each other) and how this relates to cognition. Specifically, we are interested in how brain anatomy and its related functions are associated with cognitive-linguistic (e.g. attention, memory, spoken language) ability.

Detailed description of study

This is a research study examining the organization of structure-to-function in the brain and relates that organization to describing cognitive-linguistic function.
This study takes place in Bloomington, IN.

Participants will be paid for their participation.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: stroke
  • Age: 65 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Healthy Adults:
Native English speaker
Willing and able to undergo an MRI scan
No diagnosis of a neurological or mental health condition
Right handed
No significant cognitive problems, such as difficulty with language or memory
Stroke Survivors:
Has had a single stroke to the left hemisphere
Native English speaker
Willing and able to undergo an MRI scan
No diagnosis of a neurological (other than stroke) condition
No diagnosis of mental health condition
Right handed (prior to stroke)
