Brief description of study

Researchers at Indiana University are looking for adults to take part in a study to better understand how bereaved individuals uniquely experience grief-focused videogames and how that can help us design technology to support people who are grieving.

Study participation involves completing online surveys, Zoom interviews and playing a videogame from the convenience of your own home - NO IN-PERSON VISITS ARE REQUIRED.

Your participation may help researchers to generate future technology design insights based on your experiences.

Detailed description of study

Who is eligible to participate?

Ages 18 and older
Must have experienced a non-violent loss of a loved one in the past 2-8 years
Must be willing to play a videogame

What is involved if I participate?

Attend a 60-minute orientation interview
Play through a videogame for 3-4 hours (the videogame GRIS will be temporarily provided to you, free of charge, for the duration of your participation on the study)
As you play through, you will be asked to complete 6 10-15 minute “diaries” (essentially a survey) on your experience playing the game
Attend a 60-minute follow-up interview

You will receive up to $35 total for completing all of the study requirements.
