Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of three different walking training interventions on the recovery of strength, mobility, walking and other measures of health in individuals.

Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the individual and paired contributions of intensity and variability of stepping training on lower extremity (LE) function, health and community participation in patients with chronic hemiparesis post-stroke.

Participants will be compensated for their participation.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: chronic hemiparesis,stroke,ambulation,ambulation training,gait training,physical therapy,rehabilitation
  • Age: 30 years - 85 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Individuals with chronic hemiparesis post-stroke following unilateral, non-cerebellar stroke
Ability to ambulate without physical assistance over 10 ft but rom the primary rehabilitation physician to participate
Appropriately able to provide consent to participate in the study or have an identified person able to consent on their behalf
Exclusion Criteria
Significant cardiovascular, metabolic or respiratory disease that limits exercise participation
Another orthopedic or neurological disorder which limits walking ability
Patients who have participated in clinical physical therapy within the past month
