Detailed Description
Who is eligible to participate?
- Females, ages 18 and older, who are breast cancer survivors (stage I-IIIA)
- Survivors must have a cohabiting partner who is interested in participation and eligible for the couple to be enrolled in the study
- Survivors will have completed cancer treatment (except for longer-term hormonal therapies)
- Remote and in-person options (Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN) available
**Both partners must be willing to participate; you cannot take part in the study if your partner does not participate at the same time. Certain medical conditions and medications may exclude you from participating. Study personnel will determine final eligibility during screening.
What is involved if I participate?
- Completing a baseline survey and a 7-day diary study (short questionnaires on a mobile app)
- If interested in traveling to Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN), couples would complete one study visit together (1.5-2 hr)
- If interested, wearing a heart rate monitor and collecting blood samples from the convenience of your home
Will I be compensated?
- Each partner will receive $10 for the baseline survey, $50 for completing the in-person visit, and up to $60 each for completing the 7-day diary with biometrics, or up to $30 for the diaries without biometrics, for a total of up to $240 per couple.
- You will also receive information about cardiovascular health and tips for effective communication strategies in relationships.

Receiving the medication
You would receive etanercept (Enbrel) twice a week for 12 weeks and
then once a week for 12 weeks. Etanercept, as well as study related
medical care, is provided at no cost.

Visiting the study site
Study participation involves approximately 8 visits to your local
study center over 6 to 7 months.

Follow-up
There would also be a follow-up telephone call 30days after
completing the study. No visits are required after participation is
complete.
