Brief description of study

We are trying to find out if music play activities can be used to help decrease parent and young child distress and improve quality of life during stem cell transplant for cancer. We also want to know if this program can help parents and young children cope better with treatment.

Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to translate and refine AME+P intervention protocol and training for young children and parents during the acute phase of stem cell transplant and to evaluate feasability and acceptability of AME+P during stem cell transplant.


Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: hsct,stem cell transplant,stem cell transplantation,cancer,pediatric,riley,youth,kid,kids,child,children,hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
  • Age: 3 years - 8 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
The child is inpatient HSCT (malignant or non-malignant)
All transplant types
One parent can be present for all sessions
Exclusion Criteria
The child and/or parent do not speak English(non-English documents are not available)
The child an/or parent has a significant cognitive impairment that might hinder participation
The parent is under 18 years of age
