Intervention to Change Attributions that are Negative (ICAN): a New Approach to Reducing Anger and Aggression after Brain Injury"

After a TBI, problems with anger and aggression are common. Past studies show that anger can sometimes be the result of the way a person thinks about other peoples behaviors. We developed a group therapy program, ICAN, in order to help you think differently about other peoples behaviors. We expect that changing the way you think about others behaviors will help reduce some of the anger you experience. This is a pilot study, which means the treatment we developed is at the very beginning phase of testing and we do not know how well people will respond to it. There are three main purposes of this study. One is to examine how participants with TBI feel about the therapy program, ICAN, as a treatment (e.g. do they like it? are they satisfied with it?). The second purpose of the study is to examine how ICAN changes the way participants with TBI interpret others behaviors. The third purpose of this study examines changes in anger and aggression after participating in the ICAN therapy.

Participants will be paid for their participation.
