Brief description of study

This research is being done to investigate multisensory processing in young and older adults.

Detailed description of study

In this study, we will address whether elderly individuals integrate vision and proprioception in a way that minimizes variance and to examine if elderly subjects compensate to an imposed spatial mismatch between vision and proprioception as young adults do.
This study takes place in Bloomington, IN and is recruiting from IU Bloomington and the Bloomington community.

Participants will be compensated for their participation.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: healthy,elderly,older adult
  • Age: 18 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Potential subjects must be 65 years of age or older, or and younger adults ages 18-25
All subjects must be right-handed
Exclusion Criteria
Any past or present history of seizure, stroke, any brain or peripheral nerve disease, severe head trauma, or spinal cord surgery
Have orthopedic or pain conditions
History of seriously injured bones, joints or muscles in either arm
Do not have normal or corrected-to-normal vision
