Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to screen persons who wear a lower partial denture to see if they might qualify to participate in future partial denture studies that will look at biofilm growth and ways of removing it. Participants will be paid for their participation.

Detailed description of study

The primary objective of this protocol is to screen and recruit a panel of mandibular partial denture wearers for a subsequent study or studies that will use an in-situ biofilm model.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: dentures
  • Age: 18 years - 78 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria:
  • Be willing to wear a newly fabricated study partial denture in replacement of their existing partial denture while in one or more future studies
    Provide written consent to allow for the examination of their partial denture.
    Be wearing a removable mandibular partial denture that is suitable to have one interproximal specimen placed and one buccal surface of a posterior partial denture tooth specimen placed if a new study partial denture was constructed.
    Have no current active caries or periodontal disease that may compromise the study or health of the person.
