Brief description of study
Participants will be asked to provide biological samples at different time points during your pregnancy and delivery of your baby.
These samples may be collected when you are getting other clinical tests done or you may be asked to have your blood drawn utilizing a drive up location or research visit.
Your health information will also be collected.
When a normal healthy adult’s skin is wounded, their skin usually heals without difficulty; however, if a person damages their skin while they are sick or if they have a chronic disease, the wound may not heal as quickly. Also, as we age, the wound healing process is slowed and delayed. The purpose of this study is to examine acute wound healing to determine whether a specific mechanism in how we respond to stress plays a role in the aging-related decline in wound healing. It will determine whether defects in this stress response occur with age and if it suppresses wound healing.
