Brief description of study

The purpose of the study is to learn about the gait characteristics of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). We also want to understand how we should design and implement a tool to monitor gait. To this end, the "Gait Monitoring Study" (a.k.a., AlzInsole) gathers requirements by interviewing patients, informal (e.g., family) caregivers, and healthcare professionals.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).
  • Age: 18 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion:

The following inclusion criteria are specific to participants who are patients or caregivers:
-A patient with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia (ADRD) or their caregiver, defined as an individual who performs or assists in performing health- or disease related activities.
-Aged 18 or older
-English-speaking
-Able to attend an individual or group interview

The following inclusion criteria are specific to participants who are healthcare professionals (HCPs):
-A healthcare professional, defined as any person providing care or managing care provision to patients, with care broadly defined and including preventive care, testing, education; care management functions include care coordination, scheduling, planning, communication, and more. A non-exhaustive list of healthcare professional types includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, technicians, social workers, care coordinators or case managers, dietitians, psychometricians, physical therapists, mental/behavioral health providers, clinical and operational managers, clinical assistants, and office staff.
-Aged 18 or older
-English-speaking

 

Exclusion:

The following exclusion criteria are specific to participants who are patients or caregivers:
-Institutionalized (e.g., nursing home).
-Non-English speaking.

The following exclusion criteria are specific to participants who are healthcare professionals (HCPs):
-Non-English speaking.
-No longer employed in healthcare.
